Join us in worship

Because of the Coronavirus precautions, we are not holding any public services of worship. So we have been trying to discover how to help you share with us in worship - and quickly. Here are our most recent videos for you to watch at home and join in worship with us. You can find them all on our YouTube channel: to find this,

  • either click on this link by following this link,
  • or go to YouTube on your TV, search for ECCLESHILL ST LUKE (note there are two spaces in this search) and click on the image of our church tower in the circle - you'll find all the videos listed in date order, the most recent ones first).

Sunday worship

At present we cannot persuade YouTube to upload videos longer than 15 minutes, so we have to split our services into parts (usually 3 parts).  Ideally they lead from one to the next, but it is safest to choose the option at the end of each video rather than expect YouTube to do this automatically.  Here are the Sunday videos:

Sunday 31st May: Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3

Sunday 31st May activities: Fruit of the Spirit craft zone, Break me melt me chocolate zone, and Unseen as the Wind craft zone.

Sunday 24th May: Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3.

Ascension Day 21st May: Part 1, and Part 2.

Sunday 17th May: Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3.

Sunday 10th May: Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3.

Sunday 3rd May: Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3.

Sunday 26th April: Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3.

Sunday 19th April (focusing on 1 Peter 1:3-9).

Easter 1: Maundy Thursday (This service looks at the events of the evening before Jesus was crucified, and if you wish you may get some bread and wine ready before watching it.)

Easter 2: Make an Easter Card (5 minutes - craft activity - this card will also feature in the Easter Sunday service)

Easter 3: Good Friday (A walk round Eccleshill following the events of Mark 14-15, with hymns to reflect on them.)

Easter 4: The empty tomb (The opening, bible and talk slot of an Easter Sunday service - 11 minutes) and

Easter 5: Concluding our Easter Sunday service (creed, prayers and final hymn - 8 minutes.)

Palm Sunday Worship 1 (Opening, Bible and Talk for 5th April 2020)

Palm Sunday Worship 2 (A journey in imagination and song for 5th April 2020)

Palm Sunday Worship 3 (Craft, Prayers and a song for 5th April 2020)

Passion Sunday Worship (for 29th March 2020)

Pilot Video

We would welcome your feedback on them, as we are still learning.  We'd particularly like comments on spiritual things like:

  • How is the balance between prayer and talk?
  • Is there too much singing or too little?
  • Should there be bread and wine?
  • Should there be more inset sections with other people involved?
  • How should we include community concerns in the prayers?

Our hope is that during the period that we are closed we can keep church members and other visitors in touch with us by using video like this.  It will never be a substitute for meeting face-to-face and joining together in worship, but perhaps it can be a little bit better than nothing at all.

Daily Prayer

On our weekly pew sheet we usually publish the daily bible readings for the week, taken from the Common Worship Lectionary (GS 1520A) for Morning Prayer with Psalms read sequentially. You can find Morning Prayer set out for personal prayer by following this link.

Since Easter we have been experimenting with putting Morning Prayer on YouTube videos on our ECCLESHILL ST LUKE YouTube channel at this link.
